Hehe Your result for The Steampunk Style Test... The Gadgeteer14% Elegant, 90% Technological, 13% Historical, 44% Adventurous and 31% Playful!
You are the Gadgeteer, the embodiment of steampunk technology. Ironically, many of the things that most define your style are probably too large to easily carry about, but given the opportunity you would prefer to be seen surrounded by boiler engines, gear-driven calculators, and incredible automata. Of all the steampunk fashion styles, you place the greatest emphasis on technological accessories, and you are the most likely to create elaborate gadgets that are as much a part of your outfit as your clothes. You probably have goggles, but unlike most people you consider them to be for more than decoration. Whereas most people might look odd carrying a satchel of tools around, for you they may well be essential. Above all, you remind everyone that what sets the genre apart from Victoriana is simply the level of technology. Try our other Steampunk test here. Wherin I prove I am no good at commitments, and I attempt to garner sympathy
So, this seemed to have gone the same way as all my other long-term projects; in that I follow it faithfully for about two months, and then one day I start the long string of 'I'll get it tomorrow'. Bleh. S'anyway, stuff has happened. Details: my job is going well, I've finally gotten the raise that everyone gets after they hit the performance requirements. The Shadowrun game is going well, despite several missed sessions. Life just keeps trying to prevent me from gaming. On a similar note, I'm feeling a little beat-up right now, mostly because I was in a car accident earlier today. First, everyone is fine, we all walked away from it, and I have one thing I need to say. Yay, seatbelts! Second, one of the silliest damn things happened. All told, we had three different police departments show up to the accident. After they checked that everyone was doing okay, they talked with each other, and then asked Joe exactly where we got hit. He told them, and they looked at each other, then one of them said, 'Okay, that's our jurisdiction.' It's pretty damn stupid, looking back on it now. Phil got the worst of it, but he only got a few cuts. I have a feeling that he won't be riding with us to the Shadowrun game from now on. Yargh...
Shadow of Collosus eating all my time, no chance to post journal. Oh, and just for reference, number 11 was the most fun fight so far, and number 12 is a bitch. Current Mood: exhausted | | Wednesday, March 29th, 2006 | | 12:58 am |
Procrastinate? I'll get to that later...
Bad news: I broke my only PS2 controller! The right thumbstick is all busted, which is the one you use to aim in my game where you shoot people. This is a bad thing. It did have the good manners to wait until 'after' I'd finished story mode, though. Good news: As of one hour ago, I am officially 24 years old! What does this mean exactly? Pretty much that I'm going to see one of my three yearly movies this weekend, and maybe get some more PS2 games. Though, since my schedule pretty much means that I only get to see my parents on the weekends now, I had a big chunk of ennui hit me in the head a minute ago. 'Tis gone now, but big, festive occaisions always make me depressed. I don't know why. Current Mood: depressed | | Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 | | 12:41 am |
It is March, right?
Snow, in Kansas? Must be spring. I swear that this state could go through a weather-driven apocolypse and not realize it. But, tomorrow is the LotR party, and some people have said they'll show up. So it won't be just me in my basement wallowing in nerdity. Don't think I wouldn't do it. Current Mood: excited | | Sunday, March 19th, 2006 | | 11:38 pm |
Spring break! Woo!
Or considering that I'm still going to be working during it, not so woo. The Lord of the Rings viewing is officially on for the thursday, so I've got to make sure my part of the house is presentable. And actually hang the damn calendar up. Oh, and my birthday is less than two weeks away. This came as a surprise to me. And of course, the standard question of "What do you want for your birthday?", "I have no idea." Seriously, it's something I've kinda worked at; I just look at what I have, say 'This is good. I'm happy,' and be done with it. But my recent purchase has opened up an entirely new avenue of gift opportunities, PS2 games! Though it still requires that I make a list, give it to my parents, and they walk into the store and say, 'We want this'. Oh well. And no work update today. I've been getting on my own nerves with that. Current Mood: thoughtful | | Wednesday, March 15th, 2006 | | 1:40 pm |
Many reasons, no excuses
So, I nearly let this thing drop into the pit of procrastination that all my projects eventually fall into. Caught it at the last minute though, so I should have another month in it. I could blame my PS2 for this, and in fact I will. It is just too much fun to run around smacking droids with a lightsaber four or five at a time. And Kashyyk is the most unbalanced map in that freaking game. Defending, it takes me twenty minutes to defend the beachhead; attacking, the battle's over in five minutes. And the regular work complaint: why is it that every day, I get a call for a city I've never heard of before, but then I get twenty calls for it in that one day? And I'm half planning for my semi-annual, irregular viewing of the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. The only time I can do it is on Thursday, though, which runs into the gaming club meeting. I'll have to see what everyone thinks at this week's meeting. Current Mood: indifferent | | Thursday, March 9th, 2006 | | 12:51 am |
Overdue... again
This time from work, I have samples of real town names I have had to look up listings in: California, Maryland (yes, that is town California, state Maryland) Delaware, Ohio Bagdad, Arizona Oh, and remind me never to try to find my own way around in New York. The other day I literally had a listing that was at the corner of 1st and 1st. Let's see, there's got to be something I'm forgetting... oh yeah! I BOUGHT A PS2!!!111 I am in happy geek zone right now. In fact, I think I should go back to shooting droids before I hit the hay tonight. Yes, I should do that, for Battleforce 2 is my prrrescious! I want to go there!
Work tidbit: There is a restaurant in California called Pizza Orgasmica. I almost laughed in the caller's ear when I found it. And I finally remembered what it was I wanted to say the other day. "If you are on the phone with information (or any phone help line), and they ask you to spell something for them, FOR THE LOVE OF (insert deity here), SPELL THE DAMN THING! DON'T JUST REPEAT IT LOUDER AND HARDER TO UNDERSTAND!!" Three weeks at that place, and I already hate a subset of humanity because of it. Non-work: The Shadowrun game hit an early snag. Note to self: always call the person at whose house the game will be held to make sure their mother isn't in town. Three of four characters were made, however, so the day wasn't a loss. Now I have to think of jobs to send at a team that consists of a troll with melee and gun combat skills, an adept with melee and gun combat skills, and another adept that wants to be a rock star. At least there's no albino gnomes this time around. Current Mood: nerdy | | Sunday, February 26th, 2006 | | 11:41 pm |
Yergh...
So, I finally got a good chunk of something to say here, and what happens? The internet goes down. Of all the annoying things... And now that it's back up, I've forgotten just what I had that was worth posting. I is annoyed. Oh well, another week of bad schedule down, ready for the next. Current Mood: annoyed | | Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006 | | 1:26 am |
I should be asleep
Work related: Steven King has a street named after him in a town in Maine. Yurgh. Non-work related: As it turns out, I may just be setting up a Shadowrun game this coming Sunday. With the new book. That I haven't finished reading yet. This should be some kind of fun. | | Sunday, February 19th, 2006 | | 12:54 am |
Wherin I talk about work again
So yeah, I was thinking of keeping a running commentary each day on what interesting things I heard at work, but that fell through on day one. I do have a new one today though; some terribly unluck soul in Texas has the first name of Futch. It took me three times to realize I was hearing the caller right. And in non-work related news, Erick came by for a visit the other day. Much sharing of internet funnies was had, though very much in one direction. And since Erick is one of the three people I think will be reading this, I won't bother to say much more. Hi Erick! Current Mood: okay | | Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 | | 12:48 am |
Revalations from the call center
On my first two official 'on the job' days, I have learned a few things: The day before Valentines, a lot of people call for the number to a florist. The last hour in the call center is almost dead. There is a restaraunt in California called 'Pico's House of Chicken and Waffles'. Current Mood: tired | | Sunday, February 12th, 2006 | | 4:46 pm |
Terribly behind the times
So, basic news: I have homework I need to do, and desperately want to do something else. I've just realized how little time I'm going to have to keep up with some of my friends now that my job is getting going, so this seemed like a good idea to try and keep in touch. I have no idea just what I'm going to put here; most likely it'll be notes regarding my work on my D&D campaign setting. Exciting as all hell, I know. Current Mood: blah |
